Steven Devan, President & CEO, Announces Retirement

To all member-owners and friends,

I want to personally share with you my decision to retire from my position as President & CEO of East County Schools Federal Credit Union (ECSFCU). The past 22 years at ECSFCU have been the most rewarding and enjoyable of my 52 years in the financial services industry. I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful and hard-working school employees since joining in 2003, and many of you will remain great friends.

Throughout my time here, I have had the distinct pleasure to work alongside a dedicated team that has always honored our mantra of "Advocating for those who advocate for our kids". This purpose has guided us in everything we do, and I am confident it will continue well into the future.

I’ve also had the honor to work for a Board of Directors whose guiding question has always been, "How does this benefit our member-owners?" This consistent focus was key to fulfilling our mission of "… providing financial solutions that are uniquely tailored to our educational community, and delivered with a genuine focus on value, trust and exceptional service”.

My final day in the office will be October 15, 2025. In preparation for this transition, the Board of Directors has engaged the services of an Executive Search Firm to ensure that we find the best candidate to not only maintain but to grow our deep-rooted connections to the educational community here in East County and beyond.

As October 15 approaches, I look forward to the opportunity to bid you all a fond farewell, with the hope that our connections and friendships will continue for decades to come. I will always cherish this experience and the people who made it so meaningful.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Steven Devan
President & CEO

While overseas I found myself in the frightening situation of being out of cash and with two debit cards from other financial institutions that weren’t working, despite my travel notice pre-planning. ECSFCU’s amazing member services team stayed late on a Friday to approve and immediately fund a quick loan that made the rest of our trip wonderful. Nobody else does that! Not only is it something that I will never forget, but it’s something I want to tell everyone about.
